What
Chicago River Flatwater Classic Paddle-a-thon

When
NEW DATE Sunday, October 5, 2008, 10 a.m.

Where
Paddlers begin the 7 ¼ mile course at Clark Park (3400 North Rockwell) and paddle south to the finish at Ping Tom Memorial Park in Chinatown (300 West 19th Street).  Along the way, participants enjoy all of the visual splendor that the Chicago River has to offer, including the wooded riverbanks of the north side neighborhoods, the industrial corridor surrounding Goose Island, and the awe-inspiring panorama of downtown as seen from the river.

The Finish
Festivities at the Finish at Ping Tom grow larger each year. There are refreshments for sale, music, outdoor equipment vendors and ample opportunity to get to know the people who compete, or just float through, in the Flatwater Classic. Past years’ activities include free canoe rides, massages, food and gift venders, and sponsor promotions.
